You Thinking about Strategy Games?

Rooster here, as this is the first post on this blog, I will explain to you about the different types of strategy gaming that goes on in the world of computers/PCs. MauxStrategyGaming will try out and give feedback on PC strategy games, browser or otherwise.

First things first. If you've never played a strategy game before, then read this, if you have, then feel free to go on to the next paragraph. A strategy game requires thinking, planning ahead and plotting your victory one way or another. The motive for thinking is to win, take chess as an example, you stage your pieces for attacks and take out your enemy's pawns, knights, etc. Ultimately it all leads to a checkmate and a victory.

So you know about strategy games right?
If you've played many strategy games, you probably know about the different types of strategy games you can find on technology. There are numerous types of strategy games you can find online and for free such as MOBAs(Multiplayer Online Battle Arena), Flash games, and RTS(Real-Time Strategy). Although games are usually put in one of these categories, there are some variations in each one. For example, difficulty is usually different even if the games are of the same category.

Real-Time Strategy
In the case of RTS games, they are usually castle-building and time-orientedThese castle-building games may be split into three sections. They are Command and Conquer, Tribe Wars and Variables.

StarCraft Command and Conquer Game
1. Command-and-Conquer
These are games like starcraft, where you build up your base and make troops to invade the opposition. The games are relatively short, less then 30 minutes each, sometimes exceeding an hour long. Usually, Command and conquer games have no permanent effect on you after a game.
*command and conquer games are usually download-to-play

2. Tribe/Faction War

Travian Tribe/Faction War Game
Tribe/Faction War games take an immense amount of time. In these castle-building games, you build up your own base with resource producing buildings, technology, units, and heroes. These types of games usually last until the server dies and everyone has quit. Most of these games are highly effected by money-payers that buy benefits in-game.
*Tribe/Faction War games are usually browser-based(can be played with your google chrome or whatever you use)

3. Variables
Variables are what I like to call the in-between games of Command and Conquer and Tribe War. These games have aspects from both of the two other types, with building, and with commanding. I don't consider Starcraft a variable, because buildings in variable games have building times similar to Tribe/Faction war.

There also other games in the Variables category, these are the single player RTS. Single player RTS are usually flash games. Flash Variables are fast-paced, in the time strategy, flash games usually require you to act quick to situations so you don't lose the game.

Macdonald's Game (Flash Variable)
That's basically it for this post, next time, I'll explain more of the other types of Strategy games, then start writing reviews for strategy games I've played and am currently playing. The links to the games shown above are down below if you want to check them out.
